Greetings from Chiang Mai,
Last month’s newsletter I mentioned a brother who had moved on and now is with our Lord and Savior. His surviving wife reported her husbands’ demise just like anyone else would. Without her knowledge the authorities (whom she contacted) immediately “froze’ all assets in her bank account. According to Thai law to remove anything from her account would take a court order and she would have to be representative by a lawyer who in turn deals with the court. Everybody gets a “cut” of the action, so the reasoning here would be to make a bank visit before notifying authorities. I would ask you to please pray her for we know that everything works together for good and our Lord will supply her needs.
From what I understand there is another representative of PTA (Pastoral Training of Asia) here in Chiang Mai, Brian Wood, whom I have yet to meet with. Brian has been very busy learning the Thai language and getting to meet has been difficult. I have heard that prior to coming to Thailand his family spent the last ten years in Africa doing missionary and pastor work. Please pray for Brian and his family, that learning Thai language would not be a burden but an adventure. That many doors might be opened and that Brian’s ministry would flourish.
Thank you for your support and prayers your missionary/minister/chaplain serving in northern Thailand Jim Welch.
