SHEDNIGHT // SHEDHAPPENS... for Real Men... champion sons of the KING OF KINGS!

SHED NIGHT // SHED HAPPENS is for MEN to support one another. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”. Proverbs 27:17

Here is a question that John McMahon asked in a status post yesterday which I have now changed to a blog so that you blokes can add a comment. Darryl

"I was thinking about what defines a real man today and I thought I would throw the question at you all. I am interested in your thoughts on this.  John McMahon"

I think a real man is one who is authentic. Ditch the baggage that life throws at you and become the person that you were made to be. This takes courage, but the journey is rewarding.

Real Men love Jesus with passion - nothing else matters

Hey Jacques

Your comment is one of the very reasons I feel called to do all that I can to reverse the stereotype.  For something to become real it needs to become aware however today a majority of young men have their ability to be aware DE-tuned so far by the time they're out of high school they know nothing else than the stereotype. There is real in terms of how it really is now & then there's real in terms of what it truly means to be a real God fearing man.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

A “Real” man in today’s society, has no face, no guts, cheats, lies, selfish and driven by greed. I am so glad that Jesus was humble, loving, caring and most importantly- forgiving. Without this, This “Real” (me) man don’t stand a chance to be a GOOD MAN.

Hey Guys, I beleive a real man knows how to be responsible for all that God has given them (Wife, Kids, Job, possessions) without abusing the priviledge. Whenever possible including God in the relationships and listening to his advice (by reading his will, by listening to his wisdom from others, by somehow hearing wisom in a secular song or from a movie script, etc.).  All that's required from males without cracking under the pressure and by knowing how to SAFELY Rest & Relax in between commitments.

It's almost uncanny that a great quote comes from a chocholate bar company, but keep this in balance and you'll be doing OK. They stated with one of these each day it would help you

"WORK, REST & PLAY" (Words from Mars...LOL)

Trust in God & Ask him for guidance so as to receive

One whose spirit is displayed when he receives the crushings of God with joy and praise.
Whose character is displayed when he stands against injustice no matter what the cost.
Whose integrity is displayed through his unwavering faithfulness as a husband.
Whose courage is displayed when his only fear is almighty God.
Whose peace is displayed even through the fiercest storms of life.
Whose humility is displayed when he serves others out of love for Christ.

This is a true man.

His peers acknowledge the untiring nature of his spirit, the reliability of his character, the spotlessness of his integrity, the enormity of his courage, the constancy of his peace, and the sincerity of his humility.

And yet when asked about these characteristics his only admission is that his strength is not his own but God’s; that it is not he who is the hero but Christ and only Christ.

A warrior, a lover, a peacemaker, a protector, a helper, a provider, an encourager and a servant.

This is a true man.

For me being a real man takes courage to be different and make a stand in life on all the things mentioned so far - integrity, honesty, love and commitment. It's about being a leader in these times of worldly focus and believing in an eternal focus. It's about loving the life that God has given you and using those gifts to better others including your family, friends and people you meet.

It's about being the same bloke in public, at work, at home and in private - not changing, not wavering, not giving in when you are challenged by groups or loneliness... the real deal with God as he know your heart.

Powerful question and one that needs more prayer and guidance.

Love and blessings, JA

A real man will take a stand for what he believes. He won't be a passive bystander. He'll get in and get his hands dirty! He'll tell it how it is with Love. The best role model I know is JESUS! Gbu, Luke ps. Great question John. Love to get my cogs clunking over in between my ears!

I always like the words written in 2 Tim. 14-26

A Workman Approved by God (summary)

Doesn't quarrel about words; it is of no value Do your best to present yourself to God, correctly handles the word of truth. Avoids godless chatter. Be an instrument for noble purposes, prepared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments,  must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. (and love their wives as Christ loved the church) :)

A real man, difficult to define but certainly honest, ethical, open, bold, courageous but also one who knows that he will not always live up to these high ideals therefore a man who knows he needs a saviour
