I liked this video. It reminded me of my own dad. As a child I didn't know him that well. My mother was a strong domineering woman, who ruled her man and her children.
But I remember him as strong kindly man, who always did what was right, no matter what the cost. His correction of us children, when it did happen, was a soft firm word. I don't ever remember he raised his voice. He was quiet, reserved almost. That he loved our mother was never in doubt. He always shared a kiss when leaving the house for any reason. Always ready, willing even, to do the smallest task. Nothing was ever too much.
I watched him constantly. I admired him, still do and he's been gone over twenty years now.
One memory stands out above all. I was working in a small country town in south west W.A. A man who I met only ever once, one day asked if my dad's name was Jack Mitchell. I answered, Yes. I remember your dad, he said. He was an honest man.
I am 60 now. I have a 3 year old son, Timothy Elliott by name. I call him Tim Tam. And, I know like me with my dad before him, he watches my every move.
Good choice of video Stuart. Darryl
